Now that I’m a little bit older and can hold my head up better, I’ve been enjoying new modes of transportation. Mommy and daddy have been using the sling and baby bjorn a lot more. Both make it much easier to go out for quick walks and to do chores around the house…
I’m a bad daddy. One of my favorite games I used to play with my dad as a kid was the tickle game. He’d hold up his fingers and I’d pick one at a time until I picked the magic tickle finger (supposedly pre-determined by my dad) at which point I would get tickled. For whatever reason I decided tonight to teach Maile this game (despite the fact that she hasn’t shown any indication that she knows what fingers are or decision-making ability that would enable her to “select” a finger).
I think its safe to say this experiment did not go well and we will be waiting a little longer to reintroduce the tickle game to Maile.
As Maile has alluded to in prior posts, week 12 has brought lots of changes out here in San Francisco. The biggest news is that Christine started back at work this week. While Maile misses her mommy and Christine definitely misses her baby girl, by all accounts things have gone pretty smoothly.
We found a great nanny, named Megan who is going to be working with us full-time starting the end of October. In the meantime, we’re taking care of Maile by taking turns working from home and having a part-time nanny we hired, named Cecilia, help out us well. Megan and Cecilia are great with Maile – and Maile definitely likes all the attention she is getting from so many people!
We’ll see how things go from here, but so far so good…
Saying goodbye to mommy on her first day back at the office...
Things sure are different around here. I’ll fill in the details later, but Mommy started up work again on Friday. Today was her first day back at the office. As this video shows, I was a bit flustered trying to figure out where she went this morning!
This weekend I went on an adventure. At first I thought it was because I was turning 12 weeks old on Saturday, but daddy informed me it was actually because he and mommy were celebrating their 2nd anniversary. I told daddy that I thought 12 weeks being alive was much more interesting than 2 years of marriage – he told me I had a point, but that I shouldn’t tell mommy.
In any event, we went to this place called Half Moon Bay that is about 45 minutes south of San Francisco. The drive there was really pretty – I got to see the ocean in full effect and daddy enjoyed the twisty turns.
We stayed for the night at a nice hotel just outside of the downtown area. Yes, there was a big bed again. And yes, mommy and daddy made me take a picture on it. Shocking, right?
Little baby, big bed. We get it already - 12 weeks old and your already recycling the gags?
A little help here, please?
On Sunday morning we woke up a bit earlier than daddy was hoping. Apparently, I haven’t grasped the concept of “sleeping in” that mommy and daddy seemed all excited about. I woke up at 7 AM and just started chatting away.
Then we got all dressed up – I wore a pretty new dress that Grandma Gail sent me – and we went to this fancy hotel called the “Ritz” where I participated in my very first “buffet brunch”. It all seemed like a regular restaurant to me except mommy and daddy kept getting up and getting their food themselves. I sat there and looked cute – which is pretty much my go to move at restaurants.
All in all it was a fun little get-a-way – can’t wait to see where we head next!
All dressed up and ready for my first "brunch"!
I thought the waffles were to die for...
I called ahead of time and had the restaurant prepare a little treat for mommy and daddy!
