Frustration. That’s the only word that is needed to describe Maile’s current state of affairs when it comes to the crawling milestone. She wants to crawl. Badly. And ideally she’d prefer if she could figure out how to crawl FORWARDS. She’s got the BACKWARDS thing figured out. Now its time to get things moving in the other direction.
She’s going to get it soon – in the meantime, there’s a lot of this going on…
And Maile’s first word is … drumroll please … “Da-da”! I couldn’t be happier. She started saying it this weekend. It took us a few tries, but early Tuesday morning, Christine caught it on video (and then promptly woke me up to show me!)
Here’s the evidence (you’ll need sound obviously):
Alright, time to vote. Do you think “da-da” is indeed Maile’s first word or should we continue the search?
I had a blast with my Grandma Jill this weekend – I feel like we really bonded. She watched me on Thursday and Friday while mommy and daddy were working. I showed her all my new tricks and how things worked around the house. I was a very good girl (if I do say so myself). We went on a bunch of walks and I should her some of my favorite San Francisco spots. On Saturday, we went out to lunch and then I took her to the park and I strongly hinted how much I liked going on the swings. And wouldn’t you know, sure enough, Grandma Jill pushed me on the swing! How cool is that?
I had so much fun playing with my Grandma Jill this weekend - I can't wait to see her again soon!
We hit another milestone with Maile girl this weekend – her first tooth popped through on Friday! (Of course, one day after Grandpa Mike left town.) Maile’s first tooth is being a bit shy right now – she really is protective of it and we haven’t been able to capture it on film (despite about 100 attempts). To say Maile is annoyed with us sticking our fingers in her mouth is an understatement. She’s been pretty good all in all, but definitely a bit more cranky this weekend.
So the official pictures of the first tooth are coming soon, but for now we managed to capture a few shots that show what Maile girl is going through.
This new tooth sure feels different - I've been rubbing my tongue over it non-stop...
... except for when I'm crying - they're not kidding when they say these teeth have to "break" through!
Yesterday was very exciting. I went over to Hannah’s to play with her and Megan just like normal. But then right after my lunch time nap, daddy showed up … and guess who he had with him? Grandma Jill and Grandpa Mike! How fun is that!? I hadn’t seem them since Thanksgiving – and the last time they were in San Francisco was August. Check out what I looked like then! I was tiny!
It took me a few minutes to get my bearings and warm up, but then we picked up right where we left off. We played all day together and I showed them all my new tricks. They tried valiantly to get me to perform a new one (crawling) by sitting apart from one another and teasing me with my toys just out of reach – but I’m not ready to put that show on quite yet.
Yay! Welcome back Grandma Jill and Grandpa Mike!
We have so much to talk about - I've been up to quite a lot since the last time we saw each other!
Grandma Jill is watching me the next couple days while Mommy and Daddy work. I told her I would be on my very best behavior (well, that's not 100% true - I told her I'd be on my 80% best behavior - she said that was just fine).
Grandma Mike is only in town for one day, so I spent most of the day playing with him...
... and making sure he saw my most cutest poses like this over the shoulder number I pulled off just for him!
I think my daddy mentioned in his post yesterday that the weather was really nice this weekend. I couldn’t wait to get outside – it’s been a little while since I really could explore. Daddy was more than happy to take me out – we had great fun, he showed me all the flowers that were blooming and he even helped me practice my flying. Yes, flying! I can’t walk or even crawl – but I sure can fly … (with daddy’s help, of course!)
Before flying, I got my bearings on the ground. I'm becoming quite good at standing ... with a little support 🙂
The sun felt so good - I may have even gotten some color. (Dad note: not a chance.)
I love being up in the air!
Wheeeeeeeeee!
Daddy, if you let go, I think I might actually float away. (Dad note: not a chance.)
