Saturday was a beautiful day here in San Francisco (not rubbing it in – just stating the facts!) Its been pretty rainy lately, so we decided to take advantage of the weather and head out with Maile girl. First we went out to lunch – since Maile eats solid foods now, we just take her food with us. After we ordered Mommy fed Maile and then she played and kept us company while we ate our meal. I felt like I was on a double date with my two favorite girls!
After lunch we went to the park. We had taken Maile to the park before, but she was always too little to really play on any of the rides. Not anymore. Now that Maile can sit without any problem we thought she was ready for the swings. Boy, were we right! She absolutely loved the swing – I think it might be her new favorite thing – even better than bouncing. (Which is saying a lot because Maile LOVES bouncing!)
I think the videos below make it pretty clear how much fun Maile was having. We will definitely be heading back to the park very soon!

Today I celebrated my very first Valentine’s Day! The celebration actually started on Friday. Megan (our nanny) brought Hannah and I our very first Valentine’s Day gifts. She also helped us make gifts for mommy and daddy – how cool is that?!
Megan gave Hannah and I really cute Valentine's Day teddy bears! I love mine - its so soft and yummy!
This is me just double-checking that Hannah's bear is the exact same as mine - hey, a girl has to be sure!
Before mommy and daddy went to work, I gave them the gift that Megan and I made them. Its a picture of me of course, but with a home-made frame! We worked all week on it, I couldn't have done it without Megan (mostly because I don't quite know how a scissors works yet!)
All in all, we had a wonderful Valentine’s Day weekend – I’ll write more about it in another post. I hope all of you had a nice Valentine’s Day as well!
Happy Valentine's Day from Maile girl to all of you!
Today was my 7 month birthday! I think its going to be sad when we stop celebrating these birthdays every month – I like it when mommy and daddy sing to me! This month’s birthday was pretty low key, but I had fun before bed time playing around with mommy and daddy.
First, since I’m doing a better job standing on my own, we started a new tradition. Mommy and daddy measured me against the wall. They drew a line that my head reached to and then wrote my name and the date on the wall. I guess that means its cool to draw on the wall? Good to know.
Mommy still has to help me stand a bit, but I have a feeling I'll be doing it on my own very soon!
My first measurement - 26 inches high (although I think I'm a little taller - I was 27 inches at my last doctor's appointment). Or maybe I shrunk??
After that we horsed around a bit – definitely my favorite thing to do. My mommy and daddy are great fun!
My mommy is so silly - she's upside-down!
Hold on a sec, my fingers are really small, let me stick them in your mouth and nose...
Wait! Now I'm the one who is upside-down. Wheeeeee!
Recently Maile has started getting into everything. She’s always been pretty curious, but now that she can sit up and move around a bit, she’ll grab anything that is within reach. She is particularly fond of electronics – especially remote controls and our iphones.
To distract her, I dug out my old blackberry – needless to say its her new favorite toy. She may look like mommy, but I think this is proof she has some daddy in her too!
I'm reading ... er eating ... my email! This thing is addicting AND delicious!
Daddy will you show me how to work this?
Okay, I got it figured out now. Hit me up with some messages - I'm connected!
Sunday was a busy day! In addition to my daddy’s birthday and the Super Bowl, I also made a new friend, Brennan. Brennan’s mommy and daddy went to school at Stanford with my daddy. They also lived in New York City all at the same time, so mommy got to know them too. Even cooler, my daddy and Brennan’s daddy are birthday buddies and we (Brennan and I) were born exactly one week apart – I’m the older woman in case you were wondering.
To celebrate our daddy’s birthdays and to get to know one another, we went out to brunch on Sunday morning.
Brennan and I checking each other out for the first time.
Yep, we're friends - it didn't long at all, Brennan is a hip hip baby!
After brunch, we went back to Auntie Daisy and Uncle Jeremy’s house. We played around some more and also engaged in a mating dance – at least that’s what mommy called it. What do you think?
In addition to daddy’s birthday, Sunday was also Super Bowl Sunday. Since football is the only thing I’m allowed to watch on TV at this point, I was very excited for the big game. (Dad note: it’s true, we don’t Maile watch TV quite yet, but we turn a blind eye if a football game happens to be on…)
Even better than being able to watch TV, our friends Randall and Shalyn threw a big Super Bowl party and I got to see my good friends, Hannah, Allison and Wills! We were so busy playing with each other that we barely watched the game – but I was very happy with the outcome. And even cooler, Uncle Alex organized a Super Bowl prop contest. I asked daddy to help me fill out my entry and guess what? I won! $55 right into the piggy bank. Daddy says I’m a natural – I could tell he was quite proud of me. Woo hoo!
Wills brought over some footballs so we could get in the mood for the big game - I quickly grabbed all of them. I've been doing that lately btw - I pile up all the toys in front of me. Mommy and daddy say they are going to "work with me" on this tendency. I'm not sure if that means that will teach me new ways to steal the toys or make me share more - I hope its the former!
Wills started to get fresh again by trying to plant a kiss on me. I'm a little blurry in this picture because I'm employing some get away moves that daddy taught me.
Hannah (L), Allison (R) and me playing together. Hannah and I see each other every day, but it was great fun to play with Allison again - she can even crawl! How cool is that?
Congrats to the Saints on winning the Super Bowl - and me, of course, on winning the Super Bowl Prop contest!
Today was my daddy’s birthday. I wanted to do something special for him, so I asked mommy to accompany me on a little “happy birthday” song for him. Mommy took the lead vocals and I played the giggles and the smiles. Daddy told me it was his favorite rendition of “happy birthday” he’s ever heard – so I guess I have a future playing the giggles and the smiles!
Doesn't it look like Hannah and I were up to no good when this picture was taken? I swear we weren't doing anything ... but I have a feeling that won't be the case in the future!
