Maile and Hannah have been having a lot of fun lately – luckily Megan sends us lots of pictures to keep us updated on all their fun activities…

We probably don’t mention it enough, but Christine is responsible for 90% of the pictures that appear on this blog. She’s the motor behind the scenes that makes this work.
We’re pretty happy with our camera (the Canon Rebel XSi) – but the reality is we don’t know how to use it fully. Chris sometimes messes around with the settings, but most of our pictures are taken in Auto mode.
Things are going to change going forward though – armed with the knowledge of a photography lesson (courtesy of Maile and Daddy for Mother’s Day) – Mommy is ready to rock with new exposures, apertures, ISOs, shutter speeds, framing. We headed out on Sunday for our first photo session to check out her new skills – and boy did Mommy deliver!
(Dad note: The class Chris took was at Isla Studios in San Francisco. She enjoyed it.)

We heard the circus was coming to town, so Maile and I have been practicing our routine…

About a month ago, I discovered a pop up deli here in the city called Wise Sons. We went and checked it out and instantly fell in love with the sandwiches. Jewish deli is non-existent in San Francisco and these guys were the real deal. They are only open on Saturdays and if you don’t get there early, the line gets pretty long (we tried to go last weekend, but arrived 15 minutes after they started and there was already a 45 minute line).
As some of you know, Maile is a pretty good eater, but one area we’ve struggled is with meats. She’s more of a tofu kind of girl. Apparently, corned beef is a distant cousin of tofu, because Maile absolutely loves it.
This weekend, we headed over early after Maile’s soccer practice and hung out for a bit until they started serving sandwiches. We were sitting at the bar watching the area where they were preparing the sandwiches. It was fun because we got to talk with the owners – great guys and they even have ties back east to Swampscott/Marblehead which is cool (their family used to own Beach Bluff). There was a professional photographer there and he asked if he could take some shots of Maile eating her corned beef. He was kind enough to send over the pics – all side shots, but still pretty cute…
We will definitely be going back again soon and encourage our San Francisco friends to check them out – just get there early!
(Special thanks to Jake at Intense Imagery for sharing the photos with us.)

Some of you might remember that last year, Chris did a series of drawings for something called the Sketchbook Project. On Saturday, we went and checked out the art show tour that has been traveling around the country. It was pretty cool seeing Christine’s work in an actual art show!
The show was setup like a mini library – you waited in line to get a library “card” and then you could check out whatever sketchbooks you wanted. If you didn’t have a specific name, you could just ask for a theme or something random. Then they had a viewing area where you could sit and flip through the books. Cool concept. We picked up Christine’s book and the book right next to hers.
When we got home from the show, Maile was all inspired and wanted to make her own art. We liked her drawing so much we decided to frame it and help her make her own art show … just like Mommy!
I definitely have two talented ladies on my hands!

Maile Girl here. You know what I just realized? EVERYTHING AWESOME STARTS WITH THE LETTER “B”! Seriously. Check out the list:
Bananas
Blueberries
Buses
and my new favorite …
BUBBLE BATH!
Now, I’ve been a big fan of bubbles for awhile now. I just never realized until a few days ago that you could have bubbles IN the bath tub. Why in the world did Mommy and Daddy wait until I was almost 2 to clue me in to this fact? I think I’m going to have a bubble bath every day for the rest of my life (Dad note: we’re at 4 days in a row right now…)

Mommy had a great idea that we should go for a family bike ride to celebrate father’s day. I told her that I wasn’t so sure we could all fit on my little green bike, but that I was willing to share. Turns out she had something entirely different in mind…
It was a beautiful day, so after we worked out the kinks of driving the bike we went on a really fun ride along the bay all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge. I had never ridden so fast before on a bike! Lots of wheee was involved.

(Dad note: It really was a great father’s day weekend – the bike ride was the icing on the cake. We really had a lot of fun and will be doing it again really soon…)
