I was in Maile’s classroom this morning dropping her off and I saw this drawing of hers on the wall. It’s a self portrait that Maile made by looking at herself in a mirror.
I guess Mommy isn’t the only artist in the family!
Maile’s very first friend, Allison, had her third birthday party this weekend. You might recall that a couple years ago, Allison, Hannah and Maile shared their first birthday party together. (See here and here – if you haven’t seen those pictures in awhile – worth a click, will blow your mind!) Now that the girls are turning 3 we thought they were ready to hold down their own parties…
Jumpy house? Oh no you didn't...
Sadly, this is the only picture we snagged of the birthday girl! Perhaps she was too busy hosting to pose for pictures?
Hannah and Maile catching some serious air!
Oliver is doing his best to keep up with the older ladies...
Since Allison's daddy is from Hawaii they had their very own shave ice machine - Maile hated it 😉
Sam and Jake taking in the puppet show - incredibly the kids stayed put for the whole show...
Q: Maile, how did you get so dirty?
A: Daddy was in charge of watching me.
Happy? Mad? No idea…

I can’t wait until I’m a little bit older so my mouth is bigger and watermelon is a little easier to eat.
Man, this watermelon is kind of hard to eat...
Maybe if I come at it from over the top...
So yummy. So hard to eat.
Seriously, Mommy. Can we cut this a little bit smaller next time???
(Dad note: Apologize this post is late – had server issues last night!)
As is tradition, a trip to Boston means clean teeth for Maile Girl. Maile wasn’t always the biggest fan of this particular tradition, but she’s been getting better and better over the past several trips.
This was the first year that we had 100% ZERO tears during our trip to the office. Maile watched Daddy get his teeth cleaned and then it was her turn.
Up close and personal with Maile Girl getting her teeth cleaned (she's sitting on Daddy's lap)
Afterwards Maile Girl was so proud of her super shiny teeth - don't look at this picture too closely, you might hurt your eyes!
Maile Girl here. I’m not sure how many of you knew this, but my Grandma Jill is quite the gardener. Whenever I go to visit her in Boston she shows me all her vegetables and flowers. Daddy says she has quite the “green thumb” – her thumbs look normal colored to me though. Last weekend, Grandma asked me if I wanted to learn how to plant tomatoes! How cool is that? She showed me every step of the process…
First, I had to look all around the backyard for rocks to put in the bottom of the pots.
Then we filled the pots with dirt.
Then we paused to take a picture (Daddy, Daddy, always with the camera!)
And then, Grandma Jill, showed me how to plant the tomatoes in the dirt…
And then, voila!, all the plants were ready to grow. I told Grandma she needs to send me pictures so I can see how they do. She promised she would!

It was raining today, so we thought we’d head into Boston and take Maile to the Science Museum. We never made it – on the way in, we went by this big parking lot with all these different types of trucks in it. We stopped in to investigate and discovered the 5th Annual Charlestown Mother’s Touch A Truck Day! It was completely random … but completely awesome too! We had a blast…
At first, I had Mommy or Daddy come with me on the trucks...
Daddy is a good booster seat that helps me see where I'm going...
Little girl, big truck!
Oh my god, Jake is going to be soooo jealous when I tell him about this!
Maile Girl was all smiles the entire time ...
... except for when someone pressed the siren on the fire engine!
Maile Girl wanted to keep going up the ladder - I thought it best to stop where we were...
Even Papa and Daddy had fun - you're never too old for trucks!
