This is what Maile looks like when watching TV – 100% zoned in, completely focused.
Kind of scary, right? Funny thing is, when I ask her what happened on Dora afterwards, I get nothing!

I always miss my girls when I travel without them, but pictures like this help me get through the time away!

Papa Cal’s birthday is in a few days. On Sunday, Mommy, Grandma Gail and Maile decided they were going to make him a surprise cake. They snuck out to the grocery store to buy the ingredients … and then Maile promptly announced to Papa when they returned home that they were making him a cake. So the surprise part didn’t work out, but Maile Girl still had a cake to make!

It was school picture day this week – so Maile Girl did some practice smiles with Mommy…

The Blue Angels were in town this weekend and we headed down to Marina Green to check out the festivities. Maile and I were inspired by the planes put on our own “air” show…
Dad note: Always fun to look back on an annual weekend like the Blue Angels visit. Here’s Maile Girl in 2011 and here she is in 2009. 13 weeks old in that last link – hard to believe!

Saturday was Mommy and Daddy’s 5th Anniversary. They said that an anniversary is kind of like a birthday – they didn’t get cupcakes or balloons though, so didn’t seem like a very fun birthday. I decided I should brighten it up for them.
Daddy gave Mommy a new wallet as a present and Mommy gave me her old wallet! She even gave me a bunch of cards with it. I brought my new wallet with us when we went out to lunch and at the end of the meal, I told Daddy that I wanted to pay! (He was very surprised and Mommy and Daddy seemed very happy with my gesture.)
Happy Anniversary, Mommy and Daddy!
(Dad note: This is a true story. Without prompting, Maile offered to pay for lunch! She used a green Anthropologie gift card 😉 But she signed her name and everything. It was adorable…)

On Saturday morning, Maile headed outside to draw some sidewalk art. Christine took some great pictures and they kind of reminded me of Harold and the Purple Crayon…
