Maile on the guitar, Lauren is either the lead singer or hype girl – or maybe percussions? Not quite sure. Good thing they are practicing 😉

Growing up with a little of both and the lessons learned along the way

Lauren and Mommy are in NYC this week and Maile and I are missing them terribly. Between school and work and early bed times for Lauren, the time difference makes FaceTime tough, but we send each other video messages back and forth (like the one below). I don’t even mind that Lauren is actually all excited because she is looking at herself on the phone – she’s just too adorable and I can’t wait to see her tomorrow!

Maile joined a new ballet class (slightly older kids) on Sunday. Along with the class, came a new element – the barre. I managed to capture Maile’s very first experience with it on video – she did a pretty good job and was VERY excited – her real life is becoming more and more Angelina Ballerina-like every day 🙂

Mommy and Lauren left on Sunday for NYC. Mommy is there for work and Lauren is hanging out with Grandma and Papa Hawaii (who flew in to play in the Big Apple with her and take in the sites on their own).
That means that we were very far away today when Lauren celebrated her 10 month birthday. Full disclosure, I actually forgot today was the day until Christine reminded me. Perhaps that’s because I can no longer remember the time before Lauren joined our family. She’s certainly growing up fast and it feels like it will be any day now before she is chasing around her big sister in earnest. I love watching the girls together – they are quite the pair. We can already see how Lauren idolizes her big sister, but is also carving out a bit of her own personality – I can’t wait to watch as it all develops.
We love you Lauren Girl! Can’t wait to see you again in a few days and give you proper birthday hugs and kisses (Maile told me this afternoon that she has “100 kisses” coming her way when she returns and I have no doubt that Maile will deliver them…)
