Maile Girl here. You know what I just realized? EVERYTHING AWESOME STARTS WITH THE LETTER “B”! Seriously. Check out the list:
Bananas
Blueberries
Buses
and my new favorite …
BUBBLE BATH!
Oh. My. God. This is so awesome.
Now, I’ve been a big fan of bubbles for awhile now. I just never realized until a few days ago that you could have bubbles IN the bath tub. Why in the world did Mommy and Daddy wait until I was almost 2 to clue me in to this fact? I think I’m going to have a bubble bath every day for the rest of my life (Dad note: we’re at 4 days in a row right now…)
They even taste good. No really.
Heaven.
Best. Bath. Ever.
Mommy had a great idea that we should go for a family bike ride to celebrate father’s day. I told her that I wasn’t so sure we could all fit on my little green bike, but that I was willing to share. Turns out she had something entirely different in mind…
Wait, so I sit here and then Daddy drives up front? Are you sure you trust him on this thing?
Daddy and I reviewing our hand signals. One tap on the back means go faster. Screaming really loud means please stop.
It was a beautiful day, so after we worked out the kinks of driving the bike we went on a really fun ride along the bay all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge. I had never ridden so fast before on a bike! Lots of wheee was involved.
Just like a true San Franciscan I touched Hoppers Hands at the base of the Golden Gate...
(What’s Hoppers Hands? Read here)
HAPPY FATHER'S DAY, DADDY!
(Dad note: It really was a great father’s day weekend – the bike ride was the icing on the cake. We really had a lot of fun and will be doing it again really soon…)

Hmm... what's this thing I just found on the ground. Looks like it's a plane or something, but it's damaged. I wonder if I can find someone to help me fix it?
Cousin Paul, you look like a handy dude - can you help me make this plane fly again?
Thanks, Cousin Paul!
Wait. What do I do with this thing now?
On Sunday, after breakfast, Mommy and I got all decked out in our pretty dressies and Gramma and Papa took us to “church”. Church was a little bit like my Music Together class – except fancier (on account of the dressies). Lots of different people, singing, a little bit of dancing. Plus there was a stage – and well, I like stages.
Mommy and me on our way in to church - don't we look pretty?
I asked Gramma and Papa why they were sitting so far back...
... the view was MUCH better way up front. (Dad note: yes, that is Maile just sitting in front of everyone.)
I made lots of new friends and we all put on a performance for everyone. I didn't know the words to the songs, so I just stood up front and looked cute.
Hallelujah! I see the light!
Well, I wasn’t really “alone” since Gramma Gail and Papa Cal were taking care of me, but this weekend Mommy and Daddy went to Maui without me. It’s the first time ever that I was away from both of them at the same time. At first, I was a little nervous, but then I realized I got to spend extra time with Gramma Gail and Papa Cal! And they sure didn’t disappoint, we did all sorts of fun things…
The morning Mommy and Daddy left, we went over to the local mall and guess who I am looking at here???
Elmo! (I couldn't believe it - he's my favorite, although this was as close as I was comfortable getting...)
After Elmo, Gramma Gail helped me with a cool art project - we made a hat...
It's a little big, but I think I'll grow into it...
We also practiced my chopstick skills with some noodles for lunch - I'm getting pretty good!
On Friday, we went to the park and had a play date with a little girl named Sam - she was cool in my book because a) she was a year older than me and b) her Gramma brought watermelon!
Back at home Papa Cal helped me setup a pink tent in the living room. Let me repeat that: I have a PINK TENT IN THE LIVING ROOM! So cool.
(Dad note: Clearly Maile had a blast and we couldn’t be more thankful to Grandma Gail and Grandpa Cal. We had a wonderfully relaxing trip to Maui and after a couple failed attempts, it was great to finally get away just the two of us. We missed Maile terribly, but knew she was in great hands and having lots of fun!)
(PS – Hat tip to Grandpa Cal for all the great pics and videos…)
Nothing like a popsicle on a hot Hawaiian day – although I did have trouble deciding between the red one and the orange one…
This red one is pretty yummy...
Hmm... but the orange is tasty too.
Mommy, can I just have both? Pleeeease!
You might be wondering why I am standing like this...
... because I'm copying my Mommy, of course!
Okay, go away now and let me enjoy the rest of my popsicle!
Mommy, Maile, Megan, Hannah, Andrea and Jake - Mother's Day 2011
Hannah, Jake and I prepared a Mother’s Day get together for the mommies. We all headed over to Jake’s house and had a fun afternoon hanging out and eating. Hannah, Jake and I actually spent some time with Jake’s new kitchen trying to put together the meal. Results were a bit mixed.
Dude, control yourself.
Hey mommies, we know its your special day, but can we get a little help over here?
What was that? I don't know. So much drama with the boys, right?
Maile Girl here. I’m so excited. On Saturday, Mommy, Daddy and I went to an open house for my new school. I don’t start until August, but I got a chance to meet a bunch of new friends that will be my classmates and see what a “typical” day at school would be like.
The classroom is really, really cool. It’s big and bouncy. It is a little hard to walk around in it, but so much fun to jump all around with my new classmates. Not really clear to me where the desks are going to go and I think coloring will be a little hard. We’ll figure it out I’m sure.
(Dad note: Maile had a blast in the bouncy house and we didn’t have the heart to tell her it was just a special thing for the open house and wasn’t her actual classroom. She’ll figure it out. Speaking of the bouncy house, talk about a parent’s nightmare. The fact that Maile didn’t crack skulls with one of the other kids is a minor miracle.)

Maile Girl here. I’m having a great time in New York City with Mommy, Daddy, Grandma and Papa. However, two things are kind of bothering me. First, we were just walking down the street and all of a sudden there was this huge Elmo! I mean he was HUGE! Elmo is this little red guy that lives inside the iPad, but in New York, he’s this huge, scary, red man that jumps around on the sidewalk outside of Macy’s.
Daddy, get me out of here. RIGHT NOW! Go Daddy, go! The big red Elmo is coming for us...
Mommy, it was horrible. What was that thing?
Is scary Elmo man following me?
Second, Grandma and Papa were all excited to take me to the zoo. There is one right in the middle of the city in Central Park. The park itself seemed pretty cool, but the zoo … well, I’m not a fan. Actually, let me be more clear to my friends: if anyone tells you they want to take you to the zoo, RUN AWAY as fast as your legs will take you. Seriously, fast feet all the way home. There are just these crazy animals all over the place – and they aren’t even on leashes or anything. You could get eaten. I’m pretty sure.
Dad note: This is pretty much the only picture Grandma and Papa came back with of Maile at the zoo. I think it pretty much sums up her opinion of the zoo - clearly did not go as smoothly as the art museum trip from last week...
I had so much fun with Grandma Jill and Grandpa Mike on their visit to San Francisco. Check out some of the fun things we did…
I went swinging with Grandpa ...
Enjoyed story time with Grandma ...
And learned all about new things in Richard Scarry's Word Book (one of my daddy's favorites according to Grandma Jill)...
I can’t wait to see them again!
(Dad note: which is good because we will be seeing them next week in New York City!)
