My Daddy Has a Moustache!

by Maile Girl on November 5, 2012

My Daddy has always been a little silly. Now he even LOOKS silly because he has a moustache! He told me his is growing it because it’s Movember. I told Daddy he was saying it wrong, that it’s NOvember. He then told me that he and his friends call it Movember because they are all growing moustaches to support one of their friends that is sick. I told Daddy I would grow a moustache with him too – so far Daddy’s is looking slightly better than mine, but only slightly, I think I’ll catch up in no time!

See this is where my Daddy's hair is - so silly looking!

(Dad note: Maile is certainly getting a kick out of my November Moustache. For those that haven’t heard of it before, Movember raises awareness and money for prostate and testicular cancer. This is my first year participating and I’m doing it alongside a bunch of my buddies from home in support of a good friend that is battling cancer right now. Pizza Night!

by Maile Girl on October 25, 2012

The other night Mommy, Daddy and I made our very own pizza. Right in our own house! How cool is that? I made a cheese one and then I helped Daddy make a pepperoni and mushroom one. I’m not sure why Daddy bothers with those other things, the cheese is CLEARLY the best part of the pizza!

The key to a good pizza is a BIG handful of cheese!

It's really important to make sure the cheese is evenly spread - you don't want clumps.

Read My Lips: Va-nilla

by Maile Girl on October 21, 2012

My daddy has wax in his ears – he asks me what type of ice cream I want. I say “va-nilla” and then he says he is going to get me all types of crazy flavors. What a joker!

Saturday was Mommy and Daddy’s 5th Anniversary. They said that an anniversary is kind of like a birthday – they didn’t get cupcakes or balloons though, so didn’t seem like a very fun birthday. I decided I should brighten it up for them.

Daddy gave Mommy a new wallet as a present and Mommy gave me her old wallet! She even gave me a bunch of cards with it. I brought my new wallet with us when we went out to lunch and at the end of the meal, I told Daddy that I wanted to pay! (He was very surprised and Mommy and Daddy seemed very happy with my gesture.)

Happy Anniversary, Mommy and Daddy!

(Dad note: This is a true story. Without prompting, Maile offered to pay for lunch! She used a green Anthropologie gift card 😉 But she signed her name and everything. It was adorable…)

Chasing Bubbles

by Maile Girl on September 30, 2012

We went over Vincent’s house for dinner tonight. He has a backyard. And his daddy knows how to blow bubbles. So, yeah, it was pretty awesome.

As you know, I’m going to be a big sister. So I said to my mommy, it’s time we got down to business and start fleshing out some things that a big sister should know how to do. First up, I wanted to learn how to use that cool metal thing you put up against you eyes.

Maile Girl in her new ballerina tutu - she LOVES it!

Maile Girl in her new ballerina tutu - she LOVES it!

Guess what? I’m starting ballet classes! How fun is that? I love dancing all around and while I think my moves are pretty great, Mommy and Daddy said that there are teachers that can help me learn even more. I like my teachers at school, so I figure a teacher who teaches dance must be pretty awesome as well!

I thought just taking ballet classes was going to be enough, but Mommy said that I get a special outfit to wear. And let me tell you – the outfit is soooo pretty! Since Grandma and Papa Boston were in town they took me to a special store to pick out my ballerina outfit. Grandma says she was in heaven. There was a lady at the store who helped us out – I got to pick out my very own tutu, some pink tights and special shoes. Mommy says I can only wear the shoes in our house when I practice or at my ballet lessons – I can’t wear them outside. BUT she did let me wear my tutu outside AND she even said I could sleep in it. I might never take it off.

Thank you Grandma Jill (and Papa Mike) for my very first ballerina tutu. It’s purple and pretty and perfect. I love it.

Life is good.

by Maile Girl on August 12, 2012

On Friday, Daddy asked me if I wanted to go swimming in a pool. I looked at him for a second – OF COURSE, I wanted to go swimming in a pool! He told me a friend of his, Uncle Jared, was having a pool party for his birthday. I thought this was a little weird, because I couldn’t imagine too many people could fit in the pool that Grandma Gail and Papa Cal have in the backyard.

We had to drive a little over an hour to wine country (or “adult juice” country as I know it) for the party. The drive was worth it though – the house was really beautiful and boy was I wrong about the pool!

Don't worry, the pool doesn't fall off a cliff. There's a ledge there, I made Daddy double check when we got in.

And then we drove back to San Francisco…

I know my Daddy misses me so I decided tonight I would help him feel like he was back home with me. How best to do that? Well, by reading him a story of course!

Can you see, Daddy? And then the train went chugga chugga CHOO CHOO!

Guess what? Grandma Jill and Papa Mike got me a really cool gift for my birthday – my very own easel! What is an easel? Why, it’s a stand that you can use to paint. It holds the paper just right. I find that the vertical orientation is much better to get my creative juices flowing vs. leaning over a table. Plus, I got all types of paints and brushes and a smock to cover up my clothes.

Mommy and Daddy took down all my old art from the walls and I’ve been working on new art. After all, I’m a 3 year old now!

I love my new easel!

(Dad note: We haven’t captured the one-handed, hand on the hip painting on video yet, but it’s hilarious. No idea where she learned this … as always, we’ll assume school!)
