When Mommy came home from work this afternoon she had a surprise with her – Auntie Kari! She was in town from Los Angeles. You might remember I went to her wedding way back in September when I was only 6 weeks old! She told me she couldn’t believe how much I had grown up. I should her all my new tricks – and tossed in a melt down right before bed so she didn’t think I was a perfect angel 🙂
I had great fun visiting with Auntie Kari (and thanks for the fun presents too!)
Dad note: Auntie Kari also learned how hard it is to take pictures with a 10 month old - look at the bunny, Maile!
After spending a few hours at the Bay Area Discovery Museum, we headed over to the Presidio Yacht Club for some refreshments. Don’t get too excited – its not all that ritzy or exclusive – but it does have an amazing view of the bay and the Golden Gate Bridge.
On Sunday, we met up with our friends Renee, Sage and Zeb at the Bay Area Discovery Museum over in Sausalito (right over the Golden Gate Bridge). The Discovery Museum is this great kid-sized museum full of all sorts of things to touch, climb all over and explore. It is setup like a mini village so you walk around and each building (or outdoor area) has a theme – underwater, San Francisco, etc.
Zeb (18 months) had already been a few times, but it was our first trip with Maile. Ultimately, she was probably a little too young to fully enjoy everything, but we still had fun exploring. I definitely think it will be a place we visit again in the future.
This Maile-sized bench is quite nice, but I am a little lonely...
... umm, I guess this is better!
I tamed this beaver all by myself - pay no attention to the man behind the curtain...
Mommy - this is so much fun - thank you for taking me here on your special day!
Why am I wearing a life jacket?
Because we're on a boat, silly!
Daddy said I was a little too young to climb the rope ladder, but I don't take no for an answer...
See! I told you we'd make it to the top. (And that's my friend Zeb and his daddy, Sage.)
What do you think? Does this pink jump suit make me look like a giant?
On Saturday, we got together with Hannah, Sophie and Jake’s parents and had a little mother’s day brunch. It was amazing to see how much bigger Maile is compared to Jake and Sophie. They’ll catch up soon enough, but for now we had a good laugh looking at them sitting together!
After some delicious pancakes, we sent the ladies off to get their nails done and the dads held down the fort (quite well I might add). You can check out more details (and a video) on Sophie’s blog.
The dads survived a few hours on their own with the little ones...
... and the moms came home all done up and looking beautiful!
I’ve come to realize I’m a lucky little girl and I love my mommy very, very much. I asked daddy to help me put together a little memento of all the things mommy and I have done together these past (almost) 10 months…
I hope all the other mommies out there have a wonderful Mother’s Day!
Love, Maile Girl

“Veronica and I trying this new fad called uh, jogging. I believe it’s jogging or yogging. it might be a soft j. I’m not sure but apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It’s supposed to be wild.”
– Ron Burgundy, Anchorman
Sure Mommy, I'll go jogging with you!
For Hannukah Grandma Jill and Grandpa Mike bought us a jogging stroller. Since the weather was nice this weekend, mommy asked me if I wanted to take it out for a spin. I like my regular stroller, so I figured why not, even though I don’t really know what jogging is.
I thought it was a little strange that mommy got all dressed up in special “jogging” clothes, but I just wore one of my normal outfits. If this is going to become a regular thing, I think I need to look the part and get me some exercise gear (wink, wink).
Mommy and me ready to hit the road.
Blue monkey. Check. Cheerios. Check. Water bottle. Check. Other play things. Check. Okay, I'm ready to go exercise!
Mommy and I had a lot of fun – although she definitely got much sweatier than I did. Mommy said next time, Daddy might even join us! (Dad note: she said that, eh?)
Originally this was supposed to be two separate posts, ideally spaced out over a period of time (the longer the better). As you’ll see it didn’t quite work out that way.
But I digress…
As you know Maile is much more mobile now and has started to get into things that really aren’t toys. Like daddy’s electronics cabinet. Given this new development, Mommy and I have embarked on a mission to baby proof the apartment.
Our first step was to secure the electronics cabinet. We thought we had a great plan.
This is what happened the very first time Maile went over to check out the cabinet again:
And a mere 5 minutes later this is what transpired:
Needless to say – the Force is strong with this one.

The weather was out of control gorgeous this weekend, so we went and had our first picnic of the year with a bunch of our friends. It wasn’t just the first picnic of the year, it also was technically my first picnic … ever! My friends Hannah, Sophie and Jake joined us. It was a baby party (for the first of many more times I’m sure, our parents were our chaperones…)
Here I am discovering a single blade of grass - absolutely fascinating!
Hannah just got back from Mexico so we had lots to catch up on - unfortunately, she picked up some Spanish while she was away and I couldn't really understand her...
Help! I've caught a frisbee, but I don't know how to "un-catch" it!
Daddy says he loves this shot of his two pretty girls - as Hannah would now say, "gracias papa!"
Every spring, Stanford plays a spring football game – its basically the last practice before they break for the summer. Usually its down at Stanford, but this year they played it at Kezar Stadium here in San Francisco. It was a beautiful day, so we all donned our Stanford gear and attended the game with some of our friends.
Maile and Mommy - Maile's not very happy with the play on the field...
Maile and Daddy - she did enjoy herself, we swear!
