Grandma Jill arrived today! She’s here for the week to visit and help out since I’m going to be swamped with work (start of football season is always busy). In any event, Grandma Jill jumped right in and read Maile a book. It was a valiant effort despite the fact that Maile didn’t see too interested.
Later on, mommy decided to read Maile the Very Hungry Caterpillar – she heightened the degree of difficulty by reading it in Japanese! Maile actually came around on this one and started to get interested.
Moral of the story? Grandma Jill needs to learn Japanese!
We had a great weekend with Maile. She is really starting to interact with the world a bit more. She stares at her animal friends and her flails seem to have a bit more direction. This morning (Sunday) she was all smiles and “chatting” up a storm. We played on her jungle mat for awhile – I can tell its only going to get better and better!
A little blurry this week – ah well! Maile was fussier than normal this weekend so I guess the blurriness equates to us all being a bit tired. More pictures to come from Maile’s week 4 adventures in the coming days – for now we are hitting the sack early so we can prepare for the week ahead.
But I’ll leave you with what might be my favorite picture yet of Maile & Mommy…
It may not be obvious from the picture above, but I am intently staring at my mommy. She’s pretty neat to look at. I think right now I mostly like staring at her hair – I hope I have beautiful hair like hers when I get older.
With the exception of when I’m hanging out with my dad or a friend, I spend pretty much all my time with my mommy. We eat together (while I eat, she feeds me), we play together, she dresses me and bathes me, we listen to music and she sings and reads to me, she talks to me and even though I don’t know what she is saying, it sure sounds nice. We go for walks and my mommy plays with my hair (hence the mohawk I’ve been rocking for a few days). I get hugs and kisses too.
Sorry to everyone for the lack of posting the past few days. I went out of town for the weekend to help two good friends celebrate their wedding. I was actually asked to be the officiant (check out the shot below for a view of the setup – it was an amazing time – congratulations, Gwen and Ben!)
Not a bad setup for a wedding, eh? (Minus the guy in the tux getting in the way...)
It was really hard to leave the girls, but I left them in good hands as Auntie Elyssa came in to meet Maile and help out for the weekend. Maile had plenty of adventures while Dad was away – we’ll catch up on the posts over the next few days. In the meantime, here’s one shot from yesterday of Maile. I definitely thought she looked a bit bigger when I got home and it had only been 4 days!
Hard to believe that it was two weeks ago that Maile joined our family. Big milestone today was that we brought Maile in to be weighed and she topped off at 8 lbs 8 oz! Given the way that she has been eating, it should have come as no surprise – but mom and dad were very happy that Maile was back at her birth weight (and then some!)
We’ve decided to keep up the tradition of Saturday family portraits – see below for the latest:
Hard to believe its already been a week – the time has flown by! Maile grows and changes every day before our eyes – we’re at the beginning of an amazing journey and couldn’t be more excited about our little girl.
