We had a mini Labor Day party at our place on Monday. It was a little bittersweet as it was Hannah’s last weekend living in San Francisco. The good news is that she isn’t moving too far away – just down the Peninsula a bit, but we’ll miss having her (and her parents) right up the street!
Nothing says Labor Day like a hot dog from the grill!
Maile and Hannah at age 2 - amazing to see how much they've grown!
Ring Around the Rosie with Maile, Hannah, Sophie and Jake
Milestone - first family shot where none of the kids melted down!
We like this outtake because of Maile's kiss for Mommy
(Dad note: Hannah’s daddy took all the great pictures – you can see more of them on her site.)
This is what joy looks like…
Jake at 15 months
Sophie 16 months
Vincent at 17 months
Hannah at 23 months
Maile at 2 years
(Hat tip to Hannah’s dad Josh for these great pictures!)
On Sunday, we headed to the San Francisco Zoo with Hannah, Sophie, Jake and their parents. It was our first trip to the zoo in SF. We were prepared for a meltdown after Maile’s experience in New York with her grandparents, but she was actually great. I think it helped that the San Francisco Zoo was really wide open.
We’ll definitely be heading back, since the kids are all old enough to walk now, it took us awhile to get around. We probably only covered 25% of the zoo – but we had a lot of fun doing it!
We're at the zoo! We're at the zoo!
Hannah, just so you know, I'm normally very scared of animals, but being next to you makes me feel brave...
Maile's view of the flamingos...
Maile checking out the wild animals. Jake checking out Maile. (Hat tip to Renee R for the caption.)
I think the giraffe was my favorite. What about you?
Mommy, Maile, Megan, Hannah, Andrea and Jake - Mother's Day 2011
Hannah, Jake and I prepared a Mother’s Day get together for the mommies. We all headed over to Jake’s house and had a fun afternoon hanging out and eating. Hannah, Jake and I actually spent some time with Jake’s new kitchen trying to put together the meal. Results were a bit mixed.
Dude, control yourself.
Hey mommies, we know its your special day, but can we get a little help over here?
What was that? I don't know. So much drama with the boys, right?
On Sunday, we headed up to Union Street for the annual Easter fair. We met up with Sophie and Jake and had a lot of fun walking around in the sun.
Maile, Jake and Sophie all dressed up in their Easter best
(Dad note: It is impossible to look at the picture above without comparing it to the first group shot of Maile, Jake and Sophie from Mother’s Day last year. I think it’s safe to say that Jake and Sophie have caught up!)
This is Maile being scared of the petting zoo - but it is also a great shot of her Easter outfit (from Grandma Gail and Grandpa Cal)
Daddy, the animals can't get out of their cage, right? Right? It doesn't look very sturdy to me...
Once we forgot about the animals we had lots of fun!
Today we hosted our first annual Super Bowl party with the San Francisco crew and their little ones. Hannah, Allison and Jake (along with their respective parents) came over for the game. (We were going to have even more little ones, but Sophie and Vincent were under the weather – par for the course in SF these days with the flu bug going around…) The twist with our party was that it only lasted until half-time – after that everyone went home to go to bed. We’ll tell Maile in the morning that the “cheese” (her pick) won.
As you might imagine, it is getting harder and harder to snag a picture with everyone all at once!
Jake was quite pleased to have 3 ladies all to himself. Here he is chatting up Maile Girl, but he made his rounds...
Bartender! Another milk please...
The girls got a little bored with the game so we threw some cards on the table to see what would happen. They figured things out pretty quick… (be sure to keep an eye on Hannah and her sneaky move with the Ace…)
You might notice near the end of the video that Mommy teaches Maile the basics of Liar’s Poker. She took right to it after that:
Shocking, but it was actually Mommy that taught Maile this trick...
Since it was a holiday, I thought I'd get Allison and I something a little tastier to drink...
I snuck over to the cooler and tried to snag us a couple Coronas...
BUSTED!
I did manage to sneak away with a lime however ... kind of wish I hadn't to be honest...
To make matters worse, while I was trying to snag Allison and I some Coronas, Jake snuck in and tried to STEAL MY MOMMY! Can you believe that? Luckily I made it back in time and made it very clear I wasn't letting her go anywhere!
(Dad note: We hope everyone had a great 4th of July – as Maile’s (mis)adventures above show, we had a great time celebrating with a great BBQ with some of our SF friends…)
What do you think? Does this pink jump suit make me look like a giant?
On Saturday, we got together with Hannah, Sophie and Jake’s parents and had a little mother’s day brunch. It was amazing to see how much bigger Maile is compared to Jake and Sophie. They’ll catch up soon enough, but for now we had a good laugh looking at them sitting together!
After some delicious pancakes, we sent the ladies off to get their nails done and the dads held down the fort (quite well I might add). You can check out more details (and a video) on Sophie’s blog.
The dads survived a few hours on their own with the little ones...
... and the moms came home all done up and looking beautiful!
