Maile’s Adventures in Legoland

by Papa K on December 27, 2012

On Wednesday, we headed down to Legoland to ease the girls into their theme park adventures. It was a great choice – Legoland gets two thumbs up from all of us – it’s kind of like training wheels for Disneyland. Smaller crowds so its easier to get around and the lines are much shorter. The rides are a bit tamer too – lots to do for the 5 and under set. Plus, legos are awesome.

Our first ride was a helicopter ride. It went up and down, turned a bit. Allowed Maile and I to sit together. Perfect way to start - and she loved it!

Let's go up again, Daddy!

Maile may not be afraid of heights, but she is NOT a fan of lego lions that growl at you when you stand next to them to take a picture.

Of course, we were joined by our cousins, Katie and Emily on our adventure to Legoland...

We were walking by this stage show with 4 singer/dancers and Maile just walked over and plopped herself down on this ledge. She proceeded to watch the next 15 minutes of the show completely enthralled.

This airplane ride that went around in circles was Daddy's ... er Maile's favorite - we went twice back-to-back (yep, I taught Maile the old, get off and run really fast to get back in line move. She executed it like a pro!)

… Daddy got us matching jammies! Every year for Christmas Daddy buys Mommy and me matching jammies – they are absolutely my favorite things to wear! Last year, he bought a set for him too – so we have a whole family that gets to wear the same thing to sleep! This year, he switched it up and got Hanukkah jammies instead of Christmas jammies AND he also got a pair for my little sister 🙂 I can’t wait to wear them with her!

Mommy and I in our Hanukkah jammies - so snuggly!

Happy Hanukkah!

by Papa K on December 9, 2012

We celebrated the first night of Hanukkah on Saturday with Vincent and his family. Mommy made latkes (which were a big hit) and Maile Girl got to light the menorah for the very first time! She was very careful with the candles and she did a nice job making sure everyone had their presents before she dug into her own…

Hope everyone has a wonderful Hanukkah!

Family Picture – December 2012

by Papa K on December 6, 2012

During our tree setup, we took the opportunity to snap a family picture – perhaps one of our last before we are four!

This wasn’t our first visit to the dentist, but you might have thought that when Maile went a little bonkers when it was her turn to get her teeth cleaned. (Let’s just say everyone in the entire office was pretty clear on the fact that Maile Girl didn’t want her teeth cleaned.) Luckily, Daddy was able to talk her down and we were able to clean her teeth and snap this picture – nothing to see here 🙂

Daddy, I'm only doing this because you asked nicely ... and it's another excuse to get a picture of that ridiculous moustache on the blog!

A different type of beach visit…

by Papa K on November 28, 2012

When Grandma Jill suggested that we check out the beach, this wasn’t exactly what Maile had in mind (she wanted to wear her bathing suit) – but despite the chill, we had a blast picking out cool rocks and shells. By the time we were finished Maile Girl had lots of new material for art projects!

It looks like a beach, but it sure doesn't feel like a beach!

Hope everyone had a really nice Thanksgiving! It’s been awhile since we’ve taken some family pictures, so we took some last night. Plus, felt important to memorialize this ridiculous movember moustache.

Checking in with Baby Sister

by Maile Girl on November 12, 2012

I forget if I already told you this, but I’m going to be a big sister soon! Right after Christmas, Mommy says. That’s just two more pages in my calendar (Dad note: we bought Maile a calendar to mark off the days.) She’s getting bigger and bigger in Mommy’s belly. Mommy says she kicks her, I try to feel it, I think I can, but it’s hard to tell sometimes. Today, after bath, though, I definitely felt an arm. Or maybe it was a leg.

Daddy, come over here and say hi to my little sister!

She’s going to be the best little sister ever, I can’t wait to meet her!

Maile and I created this game together and then played it about 10 times over 25 minutes … and I still have no idea what the rules are.

Well, that’s not true. The rules are whatever Maile tells me they are 🙂

My Daddy Has a Moustache!

by Maile Girl on November 5, 2012

My Daddy has always been a little silly. Now he even LOOKS silly because he has a moustache! He told me his is growing it because it’s Movember. I told Daddy he was saying it wrong, that it’s NOvember. He then told me that he and his friends call it Movember because they are all growing moustaches to support one of their friends that is sick. I told Daddy I would grow a moustache with him too – so far Daddy’s is looking slightly better than mine, but only slightly, I think I’ll catch up in no time!

See this is where my Daddy's hair is - so silly looking!

(Dad note: Maile is certainly getting a kick out of my November Moustache. For those that haven’t heard of it before, Movember raises awareness and money for prostate and testicular cancer. This is my first year participating and I’m doing it alongside a bunch of my buddies from home in support of a good friend that is battling cancer right now. If you are interested in learning more or donating to the cause check out our team page here: http://us.movember.com/team/605633.)
